Holy Separation - 2 Cor 7:1

"1Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God.” - 2 Cor 7:1

I’ve heard of serious bodybuilders, decline to eat anything that will “contaminate” the body.  I’ve seen fitness and health fanatics refuse to eat ramyun.  Ramyun!  It tastes so good!  To have it just once is no crime, but still, they refuse because it is not good for the body.

If these people have such discipline in caring for their body’s health, how much more should the follower of Christ walk in discipline and refuse to take part in anything that would contaminate their devotion towards purity and perfection of holiness in Christ?  In essence, it is God's call and command to holy separation for the church.

But why would we do so?  What is so important?  It is because prior to this verse, there was a promise for those who divorce themselves from sin, refuse to be “mixed”, and seek purity .  This promise is the presence of God living and walking with his people.  A God who says that He will be their Father, and we, His sons and daughters.

Take your pick, Sycomore?  May we all unanimously chose God.
